NotesThe new Massachusetts unemployment rate has risen 0.2 percent since August from 6.3 to 6.5 percent. However, in the same time span, 5,100 jobs have been created. Although the rate is rising, the average yearly rate is 6.2 percent, which is still an entire point lower than last year at this time, when the rate was 7.2 percent. Massachusetts still remains just below the national average for unemployment.
